‘Floriana Deserves Much Better’: Balzunetta Streets Blacked Out For Almost Five Weeks
A number of streets in the Balzunetta neighbourhood in Floriana have had their street lights turned off for almost five weeks.
James Aaron Ellul, minority leader of the Floriana Local Council, spoke up about this in a Facebook post.

“Residents can’t go for a walk without worrying, they can’t sit at the doorstep for some fresh air because they’re scared,” Ellul said.
“The right to feel safe at home has disappeared for these residents in the past weeks.”
A spokesperson for Enemalta told Lovin Malta that the company is aware of said problem and is working to solve it.
When contacted by Lovin Malta, Ellul said that nearby public gardens attract illicit activity. In light of this, elderly Floriana residents who used to enjoy an evening stroll to Valletta can no longer do so in the dark.
“I sent solutions from my end, but the authorities need to start listening,” Ellul concluded.
“Floriana deserves much better.“
