Former Birkirkara Mayor Joanne Debono Grech Dies Aged 57
Former Birkirkara mayor Joanne Debono Grech has passed away at the age of 57 after battling with illness.
Debono Grech served as Birkirkara mayor on the PL ticket between 2013 and 2024. She was the daughter of former PL minister Joe Debono Grech and the mother of current PL Birkirkara councillor Yana Borg Debono Grech.
“Your suffering is over, Mum,” Borg Debono Grech said. “Despite all the pain and difficulties, you were always there for us and were an example of perseverance until the very end.
“You can rest now, Mum, together with nanna Edith.”
