Former MP Silvio Parnis Dies As Tributes Pour In For ‘Social Justice’ Champion

Former MP Silvio Parnis has died at the age of 57, the Labour Party has announced.

He is being remembered as a Maltese politician who worked close to the people and as a social justice champion. He spent 24 years as an MP in Maltese politics.

“For five consecutive legislatures representing the constituents of the fourth district, after first serving as a mayor in Paola, Silvio also served in the Cabinet,” the PL said in a statement shortly after his death.

“Silvio will be remembered as a politician who a heart of gold who always stayed close to the people.”

His death comes after a number of politicians from all political parties shared their thoughts and prayers as Parnis battled a serious medical condition.
