Messages of support for Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici have started flooding social media after reports that Malta’s former Prime Minister is no longer in a critical condition.

Mifsud Bonnici, who is currently 89 years old, served as Prime Minister between 1984 and 1987. He was admitted into the hospital on Sunday. However, he is now stable.

Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne was among those who wished Mifsud Bonnici well on social media.

Mifsud Bonnici’s admittance into hospital comes soon after another former Prime Minister Eddie Fenech Adami was hospitalised. However, he has since been discharged.

Mifsud Bonnici succeeded Dom Mintoff as Prime Minister in 1984, after being appointed Deputy Leader in 1980. However, his tenure was marred by turmoil and political violence.
