Francine Farrugia Indicted Over Embezzlement Charges And Will Face Trial

Former PN councillor Francine Farrugia has been formally indicted over embezzlement charges, which means she will face trial.

The court convened again today in the case against Farrugia, who has been charged with embezzling around €2.4 million from MCAST, where she worked as a payroll officer.

As reported by TVM, MCAST’s HR director Valerie Attard testified today to describe the educational institutions payroll process.

She said Farrugia would send audit files to the Chief Financial Officer for approval by the last Monday of the month. Once approved, Farrugia would issue a bank file by Wednesday morning.

However, certain changes could be made to the final bank file for issues such as employee termination or last-minute allowance revisions.
