Francis Zammit Dimech Dies Aged 70

Politician Francis Zammit Dimech has died at 70 years old after battling with illness.

Opposition Leader Bernard Grech announced his death, describing Zammit Dimech as a gentleman who provided decades of service to the nation and the PN.

“Francis served with great loyalty in every position he was entrusted with,” he said.

“He would overcome every obstacle, defuse every disagreement, and smile even in the face of adversity. Francis was always ready to help and offer advice, but I never saw him interfere unless asked.”

Zammit Dimech served as a PN MP between 1987 and 2017, where he had a number of ministerial roles under PN administrations.

He served as a PN MEP from 2017 to 2019 and as PN secretary general from 2020 to 2021.
