Franco Debono Predicts Bernard Grech Could Emerge As Major Surprise Of Upcoming Elections

Bernard Grech is being disregarded so much that he could well emerge as a major surprise at the upcoming MEP and local council elections, Franco Debono has predicted.
After a survey by Vincent Marmara estimated that the PL is on course to win the election by 22,400 votes, Debono said that this would be interpreted as a major victory for Grech.
“Grech is being dismissed so much that if the PN manages to reduce the gap by 5,000, 10,000 or 15,000 votes, win the third MEP seat and win four local councils from Labour, it will be like he is doing something wonderful,” he said.
“When you compare these numbers to the way he is being treated by some people and the media before the election, it will be an exceptional result.”
Debono postulated that, if such a situation comes to pass, it could seriously strengthen Grech’s hand and weaken Labour’s power.
“If the PN manages to reduce the gap by 10,000 votes, it will still have a long way to go and serious problems will still remain, but it will nevertheless be its best result in 15 years,” he said.
“The one thing Bernard Grech needs is for people to keep dismissing him.”
“If the gap shrinks for the first time in 15 years, it will be a major loss for PL because it can be interpreted as the beginning of the end. If PL sheds 10,000 votes, it will be in for a rough ride in the three years leading up to the election because many people will become restless and cocksure as it will look like the majority isn’t guaranteed.”
