Franco Debono Urges Alex Borg To Invite Abela To Dar Ċentrali

Franco Debono urged new PN leader Alex Borg to accept Robert Abela’s invitation for a meeting at Labour’s headquarters and to return the gesture by inviting the Prime Minister to Dar Ċentrali.
“There should be cordiality and respect between political adversaries in a democracy, because we are all Maltese siblings,” Debono said.
“This is the phase where the players are shaking each other’s hands before the game. It doesn’t mean that they will hug each other on the pitch. It means that while they will honour their colours and give it their all, they don’t need to slaughter each other.”
“There is a certain elegance to cordiality that elevates politics as something noble and sublime. We are all Maltese siblings.”
Borg has previously told Lovin Malta that he would like Debono, who served as PN MP between 2008 and 2013, to be given an active role in the PN.
“Franco Debono is a friend of mine and I already said that he should play a role in the PN,” he said. “We will see how to involve him to be part of the party. We are open to everyone. The PN is in Opposition and we cannot exclude anyone.”
