Franco Debono Warns Zelenskyy Will Eventually Turn His Back On Europe
Franco Debono urged EU leaders to change their strategy on the Ukraine war, warning there is a good chance that Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelenskyy himself will turn his back on them in the near future.
“If Europe doesn’t change course, the final act of humiliation and isolation for the continent will come when even Zelenskyy turns his back on it,” the lawyer and former PN MP warned.
“The attitude of European leaders like Macron and his merry men is disheartening. They live in their own world—a kindergarten-like fantasy where they believe that simply complaining to the teacher about Putin will solve everything.”
“After three years of fuelling a pointless war, they are now outraged because Zelensky went to cozy up to Trump in the Oval Office, only for Trump to shut him down.”
Debono said that Zelenskyy’s behaviour after his fiery Oval Office meeting with the US President indicates that he will eventually depart from the EU’s strategy.
“How do I know that even Zelenskyy will eventually discard Europe?Firstly, because the positions European leaders are taking are childish—they jumped on Zelenskyy’s bandwagon and refuse to step off, even as they watch him crash headfirst into a wall.”
“Secondly, as you can see with your own eyes, while European leaders are still struggling to process Trump’s stance, Zelenskyy is already apologising to him, flattering him, and trying to win his favour.”
“The Ukraine war will be resolved by the United States, and if Europe continues to cling to its rigid and foolish positions, even Zelenskyy will discard it the moment he secures a deal with the US.”
“Europe is heading towards isolation, humiliation, and irrelevance—and the final blow will come when Zelenskyy himself turns his back on it.”
Debono’s comments come as Prime Minister Robert Abela warned that Ukraine cannot realistically beat Russia and that an end to the war can only be trashed out at the negotiating table, where certain compromises will have to be accepted.
