A free tow truck service for vehicles who get into incidents during peak hours is being rolled out across Malta as the scholastic year begins.

The towing service, announced by Transport Malta, will be provided from Monday to Friday from 6am to 9:30am and from 3:30pm to 6:30pm.

The service is available by calling 80073399.

When called, officers will be sent to the location to move the vehicles to allow vehicles to continue on their day.

Aside from this, more enforcement officers will be present at key points in the streets during rush hour. More officers will be manning the Traffic Control Centre as well to coordinate efficiently.

“Cooperation from the public is crucial to ensure that such measures are successful. We, therefore, encourage drivers to cooperate with the instructions provided by TM’s enforcement officers and to plan their route in advance,” the authority said.

They urged drivers to download the Malta Road Traffic Update (MRTU) app, which is updated in real time.

“We also encourage drivers to follow all driving regulations and to stop their car in the correct way so that it does not obstruct the traffic flow,” TM said.
