French President Sends Big Thank You Joseph Muscat’s Way For ‘Exceptional Mobilisation’ In Migrant Crisis
The President of France has sent a “big thank you” Joseph Muscat’s way, hailing the way he brought European nations together to address the migration crisis in the Mediterranean in recent months.
President Emanuel Macron, who is seen as a centrist politician similar to Malta’s own Prime Minister, made the comments during the South EU Summit, which saw leaders from seven Southern European countries discussing the migration issue.
“I want to reiterate a big thank you to Joseph Muscat for the exceptional mobilisation together with some others including us, for having these past months, always looked for efficient solutions, that are human and European to rescue operation in the Mediterranean,” President Macron said.

This comes just weeks after former Italian Prime Minster Matteo Renzi hailed Muscat for his work in the Mediterranean
Muscat, Renzi, and Macron are widely seen as being cut from the same cloth, and the latest tweets indicate that the Frenchman and Italian are still strongly allied to the Maltese Prime Minister.

As rumours swirl that Joseph Muscat is angling for a top European Union job after his second term ends, could these very public votes of confidence be setting the stage for his eventual EU bid?
