‘Gafà Uses You And Discards You’: Repubblika Activist Urges Police To Disobey Their Boss

Repubblika activist Robert Aquilina has urged police officers to disobey police commissioner Angelo Gafà and demand that he put all of his instructions in writing.
“My sincere appeal and advice to police officers is to not obey Angelo Gafà,” Aquilina wrote after an inspector confirmed in court that the police commissioner decided not to investigate the Vitals-Steward hospitals case.

“He uses you and throws you away. He encourages you to make a misstep, but then sends you to court to explain yourself and leaves you alone. Always tell Angelo Gafà to give you instructions in writing. He will freeze then because he is scared to leave behind evidence of his own deception.”
Inspector Wayne Borg confirmed in court today that Gafà, along with Assistant Commissioner Fabian Fleri and superintendent Hubert Cini decided not to investigate the Vitals-Steward hospitals deal and rely solely on magistrate Gabriella Vella’s inquiry.
Borg confirmed the police’s role was limited to summoning witnesses to appear before the magistrate and assisting with searches.
Lawyer Giannella De Marco, who is representing David Meli and Jonathan Vella, suggested the police merely acted as “postmen” who “parroted” the magistrate’s conclusions.
Franco Debono, who is representing Sciacca Grill, said the fact the police didn’t summon the accused to give their version of events before charging them may amount to a breach of their fundamental rights.
And Vincent Galea, who is representing former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, said it is even worse in his client’s case because he had asked the police to speak to him but was ignored.
