George Degiorgio’s Son Boasts Father Is ‘Local Mafia Head’ In Now-Deleted TikTok Post
The son of convicted murderer George Degiorgio had described himself as “the son of George, the head of the local mafia” in a now-deleted TikTok post.
Using the social media account @ilputzz, Denzel Degiorgio described himself as the “son of George, the head of the local mafia” in a video that has since been deleted.
Degiorgio and his brother Alfred were last October convicted to 40 years in prison each after pleading guilty to the 2017 assassination of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.
Last weekend, he was granted prison leave to attend his granddaughter’s baptism, a decision that was heavily criticised, including by Prime Minister Robert Abela, Opposition Leader Bernard Grech and European Parliament President Roberta Metsola.
He has now filed a judicial protest, warning that the Prime Minister’s criticism risks prejudicing jurors in three other upcoming trials.
Caruana Galizia’s son Matthew posted a screenshot of Degiorgio’s TikTok post with the caption “he should be allowed to spend time with his family” in an apparent criticism of the prison leave decision.
George Degiorgio is facing separate charges over the 2015 murder of lawyer Carmel Chircop.
In February, the Degiorgio brothers were also found guilty of money laundering and were sentenced to four years imprisonment and a €25,000 fine each.
Although they were both legally unemployed and had received social benefits, they owned several luxury items, including two boats, a Mercedes, an Audi and a Corvette.
George Degiorgio also held bank accounts with major banks and paid his two children’s private school fees.
