Watch: Ghanaian Man Suspected To Have Killed Landlord Babbakku After Being Kicked Out Over Rent
A double homicide in Marsa is believed to have resulted from a rental dispute, sources close to the crime scene have revealed.
The man suspected of killing 73-year-old Joseph Bartolo and 56-year-old Carmen Abela was living at the farm belonging to the victims when he was told to pack up his belongings and leave, Talk.mt reported.
The Ghanaian man, aged 34, is believed to have returned to the Marsa farm Sunday morning at around 9.30am when Bartolo was tending to a horse, where he is believed to have fatally stabbed him with pruning scissors.
It is believed he also fatally stabbed Bartolo’s partner Carmen Abela in the ensuing chaos.
Two other individuals from Niger are believed to have attempted to stop the aggressor; they are now working with police in their investigations.
The dispute seems to have risen over the rent paid for the part of the farm the Ghanaian man was living in.
According to TVM, an argument broke out between people living at Bartolo’s farm, with Carmen Abela calling relatives for help.
Earlier today, the two other individuals from Niger returned to the scene to remove their personal belongings following the grisly double murder.
