This only means that Pedro Pascal will be in Malta for longer right?
A number of films all around the world have been hit with halts, no less one of the biggest upcoming ones which was filming in Malta – Gladiator 2!
Most Hollywood actors and screenwriters decided to go on the biggest industry strike since the 1980s.
Nearly every in-production tv show or movie has been delayed until the mega-strikes are resolved.
Talks have mostly gravitated around pay and working conditions in film productions, but mentions of generative AI and protection from digital replicas have also made headlines as the world continues to brace for some big changes in Hollywood and beyond.
One of the biggest ongoing productions to be hit by the strikes, Gladiator 2 includes major industry names Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal and Paul Mescal, not to mention award-winning director Ridley Scott.

Other productions that will be affected include Season 3 of HBO’s The White Lotus and Mortal Kombat 2.
As part of the ongoing strike, the protest also involves actors who are refraining from participating in film promotions. This decision has had an impact on the highly anticipated simultaneous release of Barbie and Oppenheimer, scheduled for next week.
It’s a double-whammy setback for the films!
In fact, director Christopher Nolan had to continue a premiere in London alone, telling the cinema audience that beloved actors Cillian Murphy, Matt Damon and Emily Blunt were “off to write their picket signs”.
And with one anonymous studio executive already telling Deadline they’re willing to let the strike go until the writers “go homeless”, who knows how long this abrupt halt to the world’s beloved film industry could go on for?
