Parliamentary Secretary for Equality and Reforms Rebecca Buttigieg has launched the second edition of the Together We Empower programme as part of the 16 Days of Activism campaign against gender-based and domestic violence.

The €100,000 programme, administered by the Commission on Gender-Based Violence and Domestic Violence, invites voluntary organisations to submit proposals for community projects to be implemented next year. Each project may receive between €5,000 and €10,000, with applicants required to contribute 20% co-financing.

Buttigieg said this year’s edition builds on the success of last year’s programme, which funded nine initiatives ranging from training and artistic exhibitions to thematic research, workshops and a children’s publication on domestic violence prevention.

She encouraged NGOs to be creative and ensure their proposals reflect this year’s campaign theme, “She Has a Dream: A Future Free From Violence,” as well as the goals of the national strategy against gender-based and domestic violence.

Commissioner Samantha Pace Gasan stressed the importance of collective action to break stigma and encourage victims to seek help. She noted that proposed projects should incorporate key principles such as inclusion, equality, civic participation, sustainability, social innovation and collaboration between NGOs, public entities and private organisations.

Applications are open until 28th February 2026 at noon, with guidelines and forms available on the Commission’s website.
