Government’s Own Lawyer Is Going Against Joseph Muscat In Court
Despite Prime Minister Robert Abela’s harsh warnings for the judiciary not to engage in “political terrorism”, the government’s own legal team is actually going against Joseph Muscat in court.
With the Vitals magisterial inquiry now concluded, four and a half years after it was initiated by Repubblika, Muscat has asked the courts for a copy of it.
His lawyers Charlon Gouder and Vincent Galea are making the case that he has a right to access this document ahead of his plan to request an interim measure to remove magistrate Gabriella Vella from the inquiry.
However, State Advocate lawyer James D’Agostino has objected, warning that the former Prime Minister is essentially asking the Attorney General to break the law.
He said the law only allows Muscat to file such a request once the inquiry is deposited in the court registry.
