Gozo Association For Tourism Calls Out Malta Based Chauffeurs During This Year’s Gozo Carnival
The Gozo Association of Tourism (GAT) has raised concerns that Gozitan taxi drivers and chauffeurs are facing unfair treatment whenever their Maltese counterparts reach the island.
This has been the case at this year’s Carnival in Gozo, with Maltese people going up to the island in droves. The Gozo Association of Tourism claims that private taxi operators based in Malta working during this period are creating unfair competition.
And it doesn’t just apply for carnival, the GAT claimed that they’ve noticed a spike of Maltese taxi drivers whenever Maltese people visit the island in large numbers.
The association called out the influx of Malta-based cabs that make their way onto the sister island during such events as contributing to an ‘unfair playing field’.
The GAT also called on relevant authorities to “safeguard also the interests of the law-abiding chauffeur-driven service providers on Gozo.”
