Gozo Channel ferry operations may be delayed or even cancelled today, operators have warned after bad weather led to major challenges between the islands today.

The weather was so bad that one ship, the Nikolaos, became stuck in the middle of the sea near Comino after it was reportedly unable to tether successfully at Ċirkewwa.

Shortly after, the official Gozo Channel service issued its warning; it comes as the Malta Met Office issued an Orange Warning as well as winds are expected to reach between Force8 and  10.

Due to the ship delays today, traffic was backed up throughout Gozo’s Mġarr Harbour.
