Gozo Minister Resigns After Her Husband, A Former Police Deputy Commissioner, Attended Premier League Football Match With Yorgen Fenech
Gozo Minister Justyne Caruana has resigned in the wake of revelations that her husband, former deputy commissioner Silvio Valletta, had travelled with murder suspect Yorgen Fenech to watch a Premier League football game.
Sunday Times of Malta reported yesterday that Valletta had travelled to London with Fenech to watch Liverpool take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in September 2018, a few months after he was identified as a person of interest in the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
Then today, the newspaper reported that Europol experts had found footage on Fenech’s phone of Valletta “fooling around” and pretending to be the owner of Fenech’s luxury Rolls Royce.
Caruana has resigned only a week after Robert Abela’s appointment as Malta’s Prime Minister.
