Grandmother Of Student Beats Up Headmistress In Birgu Primary School
The shocking attack took place at the St Margaret College primary school in Birgu
The headmistress of the St Margaret College primary school in Birgu had to be taken to hospital this morning after she was beaten up by a person who identified herself as the grandmother of one of the students.
According to MaltaToday, the grandmother assaulted the headmistress by pulling her hair.
The shocking incident was announced by the Malta Union of Teachers, and later confirmed by the education ministry, who also confirmed the police are investigating the case.
In a statement, the education ministry said a woman who identified herself as the grandmother of a student visited the primary school at around 10:15 this morning and requested a meeting with the school’s headmistress Lorna Schembri.“The woman was let into the headmistress’ office, where the assistant headmistress was also present,” the ministry said. “As soon as she entered the office, she physically attacked the headmistress. Staff had to intervene and escort this person out of the school.”
“We wholeheartedly condemn this violence on an educator, particularly as it took place in a school, and we urge the authorities to take all necessary legal action.”
