Gusts Return: Near-Gale Force Winds To Hit Malta This Sunday

Article Featured Image

Black Friday weekend is almost here – but as far as the weather is concerned, it looks like it’s going to be more dark grey.

Following very strong winds causing chaos on Malta’s roads and the Gozo channel earlier this week, near-gale gusts at Force 7 are set to hit the islands once again this weekend, with particularly bad weather arriving on Sunday.

It all starts slowly escalating on Friday, with a cloudy day not seeing winds going much stronger than Force 4.

By Saturday, a storm is expected to hit, switching up the wind and nudging it up to Force 5.

And while the night between Saturday and Sunday is expected to be quite wet, that’s when the wind will start escalating, eventually evolving into the notorious “Grigal” northeastern wind which will blow with increasingly cold power, hitting gusts of Force 7.

“It is possible that a wind warning will be issued for Sunday afternoon,” Facebook forecasting page Aġġornament tat-Temp said in its prediction earlier today.
