‘He Has No Idea’: Metsola Rubbishes Abela’s Claim She Wants To Send Maltese Children To War
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola has rubbished a warning by Prime Minister Robert Abela that she and other PN candidates “want to send Maltese children to war”.
“He has no idea. He is not capable. He is scared,” Metsola commented under a Lovin Malta post about Abela’s latest warning.
Abela tried to encourage people to vote for Labour by pitching the upcoming MEP election as a choice between warmongers (PN) and progress-loving politicians (PL).
“On our side, we have candidates who want your children to have the best possible careers, and on the other side there are candidates who aren’t ashamed to publicly state that they want to send our children to a European army overseas to fight other people’s wars and make those wars our own,” he said.

Abela’s warning was also dismissed by PN MEP candidate Peter Agius, who criticised the Prime Minister for “twisting words, fear-mongering and lying”.
“Neither my colleagues nor I want to send our children to war, and we all believe in neutrality,” he insisted, noting that PL MEPs had all voted in favour of a common EU defence policy two decades ago.
