Health Authorities Issue Urgent Advisory Over Marsa Industrial Fire

The Superintendent of Public Health has issued an urgent advisory as the large fire in the Marsa industrial area continues to burn.

Residents living nearby are being urged to stay indoors, keep windows and doors closed, and avoid unnecessary travel to reduce the risk of smoke inhalation. The wider public is also advised to avoid the area completely while emergency teams continue working on site.

According to health authorities, exposure to smoke may lead to several symptoms, including:

-coughing
-shortness of breath
-irritated or burning eyes
-sore throat or changes in voice
-headaches
-dizziness
-fatigue
-nasal or sinus congestion

Anyone experiencing these symptoms is advised to immediately contact the Primary Care Telemedicine Service on 2123 1231 for guidance.

Authorities will issue further updates as the situation develops.
