Heartfelt Mural Tribute To Young Local Skater Who Unexpectedly Died Appears In Msida
A tribute mural dedicated to a young local skater has appeared in Msida’s Skate Park, with the skating community praising it for keeping the memory of Josef Errebsy alive.
A rendition of a smiling Josef – who is being remembered as a caring, talented skater with so much more to give – is emblazoned on a bright yellow and red background, accompanied with the text ‘Rest In Power’.
The mural is created by the artist C0ok3r, who shared the image alongside his own tribute: “Did a memorial of a good young friend pro skater legend. Rest in power, sieħbi.”
Speaking to Lovin Malta, the Malta Skateboarding Association said Josef, who was in his 20s, was beloved in the community.
They explained that his death was a wake up call to the entire skating community to always check up on your friends and make sure any mental health issues don’t remain in the shadows, but are addressed in the proper way.
“Josef was the type of kid that was always at the Skate Park,” an MSA spokesperson told Lovin Malta. “He started coming with his mum at a young age until he was one of the best.”
He praised the new mural, saying that the entire skating community came out as C0ok3r was painting it up – they even had a bbq right there, where Josef used to love to skate, with Josef’s mother even attending the event.
“It was clear to turn such a tragedy into a positive moment, and we all remembered him during his greatest times at the Skate Park. And all the community from that era attended Josef’s funeral.”

C0ok3r, the artist behind the work, said Josef was a “legend” and he wanted to remember him as the skating community knew him.
“He deserves to have a memorial as he was a true person, he was honest, and he passed through a lot in life… but he was a legend in the Skate Park.”
