Here’s How Malta Can Live Up To Today’s International Pay It Forward Day
For the last ten years, April 28th has been commemorated as Pay It Forward Day, a day built on the premise of sharing goodwill. Founded by Australian Blake Beattie in 2007, the incentive encourages people to show three strangers a random act of kindness each. More than 60 countries have gradually joined, and a couple of years ago, Pay It Forward Day also made its way to Malta.
If you want to make the most of this special day but don’t really know what you can do to spread the love, here are five ideas.
1. Give your seat up to someone on the bus
Whoever it is, if they look like they’re slightly encumbered with their bags, today is the day to show the world how kind you can be. And with all the different types of people you get to meet on a Maltese bus, God knows a small act of kindness can go a long way.
2. Let someone skip you in the queue
We’re a far cry away from queue-addicted UK, so this would be as amazing as it is unexpected.
3. Buy someone’s lunch at work
If you’re going to be doing the quick lunch run, keep someone else in mind. They could be a friendly colleague, but if they’re not someone you usually speak to, it’s even better.
4. Look out for each other on the streets
Malta’s roads keep getting more and more chaotic, so today’s the perfect day to have a fellow citizen’s back. Especially if you can help someone not get unfairly fined by a warden.
5. Pay for someone’s coffee
Even if it’s a Friday afternoon, we could all do with a good old cuppa. And paying it forward when it comes to coffee is already a possibility, thanks to Marsascala’s Jacob’s Brew, a cafe with an amazing story.
