Hundreds of historic documents belonging to Sir Adrian Dingli have been incuded in Malta’s National Archives.

These documents, which go back to the 1800s when Malta was still under British dominion, form part of the largest of six collections the National Archives have acquired from Dr Albert Ganado.

Culture Minister Owen Bonnici said this “important acquisition” would lead to a better understanding of this important time in Maltese history, and will be given the appropriate importance in their new home.

National Archivist Charles Farrugia said the new documents would complement current collections.

Sir Adrian Dingli was born in Valletta in 1817 to a family that worked closely with administering justice, with his father Paolo serving as a judge and Appeals Court President.

The new collection also include documents from Paolo Dingli, including some specifically related to legal amendments, as well as other key documents of national importance.
