Homeless Man Handed Suspended Sentence For Stealing From Church Donation Box In Malta
A homeless Ukrainian man has been handed a suspended sentence for stealing for a church donation box.
Ihor Cardacik pleaded guilty to stealing €2,329 from the Santa Tereża church in Birkirkara on 19th August.
Cardacik has been in Malta since 2018. However, he has been without a job for a while and had turned to “unfortunate vices”.
He did admit to the charges and had even admitted everything to the parish priest the day after he committed the theft.
He even wanted to repair the damage caused and cooperated with the police.
Given his admission, he was sentenced to a 16-month suspended jail term.
