Housing Authority Carries Out Raid In Ħamrun After Illegal Squatters Located

Malta’s Housing Authority carried out a raid operation in Ħamrun earlier today after squatters were found to be illegally inhabiting a social housing block.
“After weeks of investigation and after a legal process was followed, an eviction operation began this morning in a social housing block in Ħamrun where a number of people were residing without a title,” a Housing Authority spokesperson told Lovin Malta.
“This eviction was carried out by the Housing Authority where there was also the involvement of the police in order to protect public peace in case needed,” they explained.
The spokesperson also explained how Minister Roderick Galdes has always maintained that it would be a disservice to people in need if public assets are abused.
“It was for this reason that in recent years the enforcement section within the same Housing Authority has been strengthened,” they said.
“The Minister offers thanks to several sections of the Housing Authority that worked on this case as well as the Police Force for their help during this operation,” they concluded.
Minister Galdes also added that whoever believes in social justice can never tolerate such abuse, in a statement on social media.
