Housing Minister Announces Amendments To Law On Number of Tenants Per Household
Housing Minister Roderick Galdes took to social media to address the amendments in the law related to the number of tenants per household.
“A decent quality of life for everyone. We are going to address the issue related to overpacked households and we will not be tolerating any abuse,” stated the minister on Facebook this morning.
He highlighted the fact that the law has now been amended, and there is a strict amount that needs to be adhered to.
“When we said we were going to address this matter we had a clear plan. In the discussion about the amendments in the rental law, the Government will be proposing that the amount of people permitted to share one bedroom will not exceed two,” claimed Galdes.
The amendments also stressed the minimum number of bathrooms depending on the amount of tenants in one household. A minimum of one bathroom is necessary for four to six tenants, while two bathrooms are required for households containing eight to ten tenants.
These changes follow what was released in December 2023, when the government stated it would limit landlords to six tenants, regardless of whether households had a higher number of bedrooms.
