How A Nigerian Influencer ‘Kidnapped’ By The FBI Might Have Stolen €13 Million From A Maltese Bank

Last year Bank of Valletta was robbed of €13 million in an unprecedented cyber-heist and this Gucci-wearing, private jet flying Nigerian Instagram lord could have been behind it all.

Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, known to his 2.5 million-strong Instagram followers as “Hushpuppi”, was kidnapped from his Dubai apartment two weeks ago in a joint effort with the FBI and Dubai Police.

A few days later, Hushpuppi along with his accomplice Olalekan Jacob Ponle aka “Mr Woodberry” appeared in a Chicago courtroom where they’ll face a lengthy trial for money laundering in American courts.

And in a surprising twist of events, an affidavit claims that Hushpuppi stole $14.7m or €13m from a foreign financial institution in a major cyber-heist in February last year…

… the same amount that coincidentally was stolen from BOV that same month.

While three men from the UK have been arrested in relation to the cyber-heist, it became clear that a transnational network of cybercriminals orchestrated the attack on BOV with Hushpuppi and Mr Woodbery forming an integral part of it.

BOV never relocated the €13m that went missing but after one look at Hushpuppi’s Instagram account, we’ve got a pretty good idea of where it might have gone…

Hushpuppi’s elaborate and lavish lifestyle appears to be the product of years of money laundering and cyber-attacks orchestrated from his safe haven in Dubai. Victims of the attack are said to be an unnamed English Premier League football club, BOV and a US law firm – hence the interjection by the FBI.

And just like that, the untouchable Instagram millionaire will face the mighty hammer of the US judicial system.
