‘How Cruel Life Can Be’: Paola Shocked After Mother And Son Found Dead Together

The death of a mother and son in Paola has shocked many within the central Maltese locality.
Stephen Gruppetta, 58, and Georgina Gruppetta, 80, will be laid to rest tomorrow, Saturday 29th, at the Parish Church in Paola at 8.15am.
The inquiry into the death found that the pair died naturally, with Magistrate Joe Mifsud’s findings showing that foul play is not being suspected in the pair’s death, Talk.mt reported.
Their deaths are believed to have happened within a short amount of time; though it is not yet confirmed, it is believed the son died due to dehydration shortly before the mother found him, dying as a result of the shock of finding her son.
The bodies were found by police officers on Tuesday, and it is understood they were dead for around two days before they were found.
Online, many people sent their heartfelt condolences to the family, including Paola mayor Dominic Grima.
“How cruel life can be,” he said. “Condolences to the entire family during this difficult moment, may they rest in peace.”
