How Would You Change Europe? Join The Discussion On Xarabank This Friday
Most good ideas originate from a person’s lived experience. When we’re faced with an injustice or a big inconvenience, we often come up with a solution. And if only someone listened to us, our idea could end up changing the lives of many other people like us.
The problem is that citizens don’t always find it easy to get their ideas across, especially when it’s a big idea that is best tackled as a continent.
The good news is that the European Union has recognised the value of citizen ideas and has launched an empowering platform to help it listen to the millions of citizens around Europe. And this week’s Xarabank episode on Lovin Malta is dedicated to exploring this platform and how it can help us all shape the future of Europe!
Should all European citizens have an unconditional basic income?
Should you be able to vote for the MEPs of different member states?
Should the EU’s railway systems all be interconnected to simplify non-plane travel?
Should the EU implement an official EU passport for EU citizens?
Should the EU represent European interests more decisively in future pandemic crises?
These are just some of the ideas already trending on www.futureu.europa.eu which was officially inaugurated last Sunday 9th of May, Europe Day.
Now, Maltese citizens have the opportunity to make their voices heard and suggest ideas that could help shape Europe.
The ideas shared on the platform will be monitored by the European Parliament, the European Commission and the European Council. The best ideas will make it to a plan of action being finalised by the three institutions by Spring 2022.
