Hugo Murder Suspect’s Brother: ‘He Was Acting Very Strange And Aggressive For Past Six Months’

The man charged with murdering Hugo Chetcuti had been acting “very aggressively” for the past six months, according to testimony provided by his brother to the police.

In court this morning, police sergeant Shaun Axiaq recounted how he had visited Mason’s Cafe in Sliema – where the suspect’s brother worked – the day after the stabbing. Although the suspect’s passport identifies him as Bojan Cmelik, Axiak confirmed that his brother is called Adam Mitić.

This tallies with information provided to Lovin Malta by an old acquaintance of Cmelik, who insisted the suspect’s real name is Bojan Mitić and that he had been jailed in Serbia for carrying out an armed robbery.

Adam Mitić told the police that his brother lived in his Msida apartment with him, but the two hadn’t been on speaking terms for the past six months.

“Adam said that Bojan was acting very strange and aggressive for the past six months and that he used to lock himself inside his bedroom whenever he [Adam] entered the living room,” Axiak said. “Adam invited us to his residence and gave us his brother’s passport and ID card as well as a small mobile which he said belonged to Bojan.”

Axiak confirmed that the police didn’t press Adam Mitić further on the nature of their relationship.
