Valletta’s Streets Flooded By Anti-Government Protesters In PN Demonstration

Hundreds, if not thousands, of people have flooded the streets of Valletta to join an anti-government protest organised by the Nationalist Party (PN).

The protest was announced earlier this week, calling on citizens “to send a clear message that our country needs a change from this failed Government.”

During an interview on NET Television this morning, PN leader Bernard Grech said that the government has failed because it lacks direction and values. He argued that the government is constantly caught trying to manage one crisis after another, exemplifying the Vitals Healthcare Hospital deal that saw hundreds of millions of tax payers’ money misused.

“The entire Maltese and Gozitan population is suffering from this failure, as they face problems in the health, education, and environmental sectors, while also dealing with the traffic and energy crises,” the PN wrote.

Grech further pointed out the government’s inconsistency when it comes to defence spending, speaking against European investment in local occasions but saying and doing the opposite in the European Union.

“The government’s failure is becoming evident in international fora.”

Grech went on to accuse the state of stifling discussion by refusing to speak about the theft of 200 kilograms of cannabis from what’s “supposed to be the most secure location in Malta”.

He concluded by reminding the public that the state is “stripping citizens of their right to request a Magisterial Inquiry and is lost in its attack on the media and the judiciary”.
