Hunters Give Patron St Julian Gun Salute From Atop Parish Church During Festa Celebrations
Hunters celebrated the festa of their patron saint with the traditional “gun salute” from atop the St Julian’s Parish Church.
Members of hunting lobby FKNK adorned their green shirts emblazoned with their logo and fired blank catridges into the air in an event that hasn’t been held for two years due to the pandemic. This was the 37th time the FKNK held this gun salute.
On this occasion, the salute was also dedicated to Aldo E. Azzoprdi, one of the founders of the St Julian’s gun salute, who passed away in 2020.
FKNK said it had been a principal sponsor of the event for the last 15 years, providing blank cartridges as well as the shirts. Over 30 members participated in the salute.
A number of turtle doves that had been raised in captivity were also released into the wild.
Money was raised to be presented to Dar tal-Providenza.
