Michael Psaila Debono, known for competing in last year’s edition of Liquorish, has strongly criticised Prime Minister Robert Abela for the current state of affairs in Malta.
In an impassioned Facebook post, Psaila Debono listed ten pain points that frustrate him as a tax-paying citizen
1. Regular long power cuts in the summer months.
2. Lack of clean waters to swim in
3. Lack of clean air to breathe
4. Impeccable old buildings getting knocked down to give way to concrete blocks of apartments
5. Never-ending traffic due to a lack of proper street planning
6. Feeling like a foreigner in his own country due to overpopulation
7. Dirty streets due to a sheer lack of enforcement
8. A lack of trees for people to sit down under to get some well-needed shade in the summer months
9. Excess tables and chairs in Valletta, which turns walking through the capital city into a challenge
10. Unbridled nepotism across the board, with blue-eyed boys appointed to key government positions ahead of technocrats
“Quality of life doesn’t hinge upon how much money you have in your pocket but about how pleased you are in your environment,” Psaila Debono said. “I am not happy, the government has totally failed us.”
In a comment, he warned that all the above problems are ultimately Robert Abela’s fault.
“This is what happens when you have a spineless and incompetent leader who lacks integrity and who never had to fight for anything in life because he always lived in his father’s shadow,” he said.
