‘I Can Take You Any Day, Anytime, Anywhere’: Joseph Muscat During Heated PAC Grilling Over Electrogas
Ex-Prime Minister Joseph Muscat went head to head with Public Accounts Committee Chair Darren Carabott today, during a heated grilling over the controversial Electrogas power station deal that his administration lead.
Finishing the nearly-two hour heated meeting, Muscat warned that “if you find no favour with my answer, that is your issue… you cannot expect me to be your parrot”.
“I can take you any day, anytime, anywhere,” he said, clearing his papers from the table, adding that he will have to check his availabilities for the next PAC meeting next week.

Muscat has been summoned in a probe into the ElectroGas project, fiercely denying any idea that suggests Labour conjured the €200 million gas plant contract in the hands of Electrogas, whose shareholders included Yorgen Fenech, the main suspect in the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
Carabott and Muscat argued heatedly in the last twenty minutes, with Carabott asking one final question, whether he thinks it’s acceptable that a government minister, disgraced MP Konrad Mizzi asks his former Chief of Staff, Keith Schembri, how “to turn everything to gold” as he does.
“In my understanding, you should consult the guidelines and standing orders on how to treat a witness and member of public,” Muscat replied.
“If you want to do a political debate then we will do one somewhere else. I think you are leading this committee as a knee-jerk reaction to last week, when things went very well, and you are going beyond your remit.”
