One of Malta’s top social media influencers has shared the heartbreaking news that her beloved family dog, Choco the retriever, has passed away.

In a series of Instagram stories which started as early as 5am, 27-year-old Sarah Zerafa told her thousands of followers that her “special someone did not make it” and that Choco “took my whole heart with you”.

Later this morning, Sarah posted a heartbreaking tribute featuring a number of adorable memories of the two throughout the years.

“Been trying to get myself to press ‘post’ for the past few hours,” she admitted. “But I just don’t want it to be real.”
