Camilleri also threw his name into the running to become Police Commissioner.

Camilleri has previously worked in the Criminal Investigation Department as well as within the police’s prosecution.

Within the FCID, he will be taking over from his predecessor Frank Tabone, who is out on long leave.

The role is a challenging one, with officers expected to be able to withstand being influenced while looking into the finances of the rich and powerful on the island.
