‘I Support Everyone Who Helps Me’: Isabelle Bonnici Clarifies Peter Agius ‘Endorsement’

Isabelle Bonnici has clarified that she doesn’t exclusively support Peter Agius after the PN MEP candidate used her to promote his campaign.

“I support everyone who helps me, from whichever party or independent individuals, and no one in particular,” Bonnici said.

“I don’t have experience with how the media works and I had no intention of appeasing anyone or any party. I appreciate everyone and thank everyone for their support. I apologise if anyone feels disappointed because they helped me too.”

Agius published a statement attributed to Bonnici today

“I am Isabelle, mother of Jean Paul Sofia. I met Peter a few weeks after Jean Paul’s incident and asked him for help,” the statement shared by Agius read.

“Peter acted on what I told him. After a few months, it was Peter who revealed how the government was failing to apply European laws on building safety. In politics, we need people like Peter. People who act, not just talk. People who are not afraid to speak for us.”

Bonnici told Lovin Malta that Agius had sent her that statement himself and asked whether it was fine for him to attribute it to her. She agreed but said she didn’t know he would use it as a political endorsement.
