‘I Was Not Impressed’: Rebekah Borg Reacts To Parliament Hot Mic Moment, Accepts Clayton Bartolo’s Apology
PN MP Rebekah Borg has reacted to Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo’s latest hot mic moment in Parliament, simply saying that she was not impressed by it.
Following the snide comment made in Malta’s highest political house, Borg told Lovin Malta that she has “accepted and appreciated” his personal apology which came after the video surfaced online.
This came after Bartolo was caught saying how he can’t stand Rebekah while speaking with Housing Minister Roderick Galdes in Parliament. After the video surfaced, Bartolo claimed that he had already apologised for the comment.
“I just saw the apology now that he sent via email. He said he apologises personally for the comment and admitted it was not a comment that should have been passed,” Borg told Lovin Malta.
“Of course, I was not impressed by his comment, especially when I was only trying to do my job,” she expressed.
“But yes, I do accept the apology and appreciate that he was forthcoming with it himself. I will be registering the apology in Parliament officially since the comment was made there.”
“I just hope I will be left to do my job without receiving snide comments like this, which only got caught because the mic was left on,” she said.
Bartolo was sitting next to Housing Minister Roderick Galdes, and when it was Borg’s turn to address the parliament, Bartolo turned to Galdes and said “Din, din, jien ma naħmilhiex saħta”.
In English, it roughly translates to “I can’t stand her”.
While the parliamentary members did not seem to realise at the time, the moment was then caught on video through Parliament TV.
