Valletta Cultural Agency chairman and PL executive member Jason Micallef accused Robert Aquilina of “trying to ruin the Christmas spirit” in Valletta after the Repubblika activist criticised the Christmas tree that has been erected in the capital.

Aquilina was one of several people who criticise the Christmas tree design and pointed his finger squarely at Micallef, stating he “views this ugliness as beautiful” and that he was “ashamed to tell us that it was his idea”.

And Micallef came out all guns blazing against Aquilina.

“The Curia’s notary, the obsessed Robert Aquilina, and his friends from the hate brigade are coordinating an attack under any pretext to try and disrupt and ruin the Christmas atmosphere and activities in Valletta,” he said.

“They want  to disrupt Christmas business in Valletta at all costs.”

“Yesterday, they coordinated a relentless attack on the Christmas tree in Valletta through hateful writings, as they are so adept at. The notary and his associates told us how ugly and filthy the Christmas tree us. Look at the damage they caused to Sciortino’s national monument, and the mess and filth they leave behind daily—that, to them, is perfectly acceptable.”

“I, for one, will not let you destroy Christmas in Valletta. During Christmas, people should see joy and love, not agents of hatred like you.”
