Ian Borg Nominates Donald Trump For Nobel Peace Prize
Malta’s Foreign Affairs Minister Ian Borg has announced that he has nominated US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
“Two weeks ago, I met President Trump and his wife in New York,” he said. “As the person who led the OSCE in 2024, I worked with many people on the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan for a peace that was finally achieved this summer thanks to the US President.”
“I presented the American President with a letter I wrote myself, in which I informed him that, like many others, I have nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize. I also encouraged him to continue working on the Middle East and Ukraine.”
“I am glad to see a greater commitment that is moving us closer towards peace.”
Trump has repeatedly expressed his wish to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts resolving global conflicts – including the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The last time a US President won the Nobel Peace Prize was in 2009, when Barack Obama was honoured “for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples”.
