Foreign Minister Ian Borg had a Father’s Day-inspired surprise visit in London by his own daughter, as he recovers from knee surgery.
Having learned of the rare disease back in March during the election period, Borg was set to undergo surgery as part of the treatment.
“My daughter came to see me in the hospital in London together with my wife, the most beautiful Father’s day gift after a tough week here,” Borg said on social media.
“I am feeling better and am working to be back on my feet in good health,” he shared.
“Congratulations to all Fathers, especially to my father Louis,” he concluded.
In the photograph uploaded, Borg’s daughter is beaming brightly as Borg holds up a trophy which reads ‘Best Dad’ and a handmade card.
Reacting to the post, many politicians across all parties wished a speedy recovery to Borg, with PN MP Robert Cutajar also uploading a post to wish him good health.
“In politics, we cannot agree on a thousand matters, but health comes before everything,” he wrote, sharing the photo Borg uploaded.
A few months back, it was revealed that Borg is suffering from what is known as pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS), a condition that typically leads to the swelling or growth of the lining of a joint.
Borg had also shared details of multiple methods of treatment being available, but he personally opted to go for surgery.
