“Malta International Airport would like to inform the public that it will be holding a full-scale aircraft emergency exercise on the evening of Tuesday, 27th of March 2018. This national exercise will bring together key stakeholders and organisations that would be involved in the event of an actual emergency at Malta International Airport.

On the day, the Malta International Airport team will be working alongside several important entities, including the Armed Forces of Malta, the Civil Protection Department, Mater Dei Hospital, the Malta Police and airline representatives. Forming part of the airport’s Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity Programme, this exercise will be carried out to test the level of preparedness of all of these entities, as well as the adequacy of emergency equipment and the emergency response plan in place.

Malta International Airport would like to advise passengers travelling on the day that this exercise will not impact their journey, and reminds the public not to be alarmed if, on the day, it witnesses unusual activity, such as a number of emergency vehicles – police cars, ambulances, and fire engines – being driven in the direction of the terminal.

The public is being requested to contribute to the successful execution of this exercise, mainly by refraining from hindering the movement of these emergency vehicles and obstructing roadswhere emergency operations will be taking place.”
