Illegal 150+ Person Golden Bay Party Busted After Revellers Urinated Near Protected Sand Dunes
A permitless party that saw revellers enter protected nature areas and relieve themselves was halted by Maltese authorities.
The revellers were spotted by Heritage Parks Federation Rangers Unit running across the nearby sand dunes, a fragile and rare habitat protected by law that falls under Majjistral Park and Natura2000’s remit.
No less than 20 people were found on the sand dunes, with a number of them found to be relieving themselves even though public conveniences were nearby and open until midnight. The event happened between 9pm and 11pm.
Others littered in protected areas.
The organiser of the event is set to face charges after the police as well as officers from the Malta Resources Authority appeared on scene to enforce the law.
The event happened the evening of 6th June, the eve of Sette Giugno, a public holiday.
A garbage can was also found with coal burning in it.
The rangers reminded the public that only gas BBQs were allowed only after obtaining a permit, and anyone found igniting a BBQ could be fined anywhere between €100 to €500. Anyone caught damaging park property can be fined anywhere between €400 to €50,000.
