‘I’m In Total Shock’: Fatal Coach Incident Happened Outside MEP David Casa’s Planned Event
The tragic coach-related incident that claimed the life of an elderly woman in Żurrieq occurred outside of an event organised by Maltese MEP David Casa which he consequently decided to cancel.
“Nothing can ease the shock of what happened today,” Casa wrote in a status following the discovery of the 80-year-old woman’s death last night.
The resident of Għaxaq was hit by a coach after getting off it herself, alongside two other women in their 60s. Upon hearing of the incident, and before knowing that the woman had died, Casa cancelled the event.
“In light of what has happened, I am taking the decision to cancel tonight’s event. My thoughts are with the injured person and their family at this time,” he wrote in a status thanking those who went to Villa Blanche to attend the event.
“I have just been informed of the tragic death of the person who was injured in the accident that took place tonight,” Casa wrote on Facebook following his initial statement.
“I’m in total shock. Nothing can ease the shock of what happened today.”
“My heart goes out to her family and I offer my sincere condolences.”
Unfortunately and despite medical assistance, the elderly woman succumbed to her injuries on site.
Meanwhile, the other two are currently at Mater Dei with one being certified to have suffered grievous injuries and the other who’s condition is still pending.
Rest in peace
