In Photos: 4.7 Million Litres Of Water Used As Marsa Fire Fully Extinguished After 24-Hour Battle
After a relentless 24-hour operation, Civil Protection Malta has confirmed that the Marsa industrial fire has been fully extinguished.
The large-scale response pushed emergency teams to their limits, showcasing what CPD described as “an extraordinary level of endurance, coordination, and courage.”
To bring the blaze under control, firefighters used an estimated 4.7 million litres of water, 30,000 litres of firefighting foam, and deployed 153 firefighters, 16 senior fire officers, and 30 fire appliances over the course of the operation.

Civil Protection Malta extended its gratitude to all agencies that assisted, including the Malta Police Force, Mater Dei Hospital’s Emergency Department, Transport Malta, CPD Volunteers, EFRU, St John Ambulance & Rescue, the Detention Services, Cleansing Malta, and private water contractors.
In a statement, the agency said the incident serves as a reminder of the strength and resilience of Malta’s emergency services, “united in purpose, driven by duty, and unwavering in the mission to save and protect.”
