In Photos: Hauntingly Beautiful Water Reservoir Uncovered During Mosta Works
Restoration works are taking place in a cathedral-like reservoir that was discovered under Mosta Square during ongoing infrastructural works.
Infrastructure Malta (IM) recently published photos from this find, showing the water reservoir in all its glory.
“During ongoing works at Mosta Square, we came across this jewel. In collaboration with Kunsill Lokali Mosta, we’re undertaking restoration works to strengthen the roofing structure to stop deterioration,” IM said in a statement on social media.
It also detailed how it’s working to improve the structural integrity of the reservoir under the guidance of the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage.
However, some residents have claimed that there was always a reservoir underneath the square, but this could be the first time we’re getting a view from the inside.
